All members of our staff were chosen because they show genuine interest and love for children and concern for all areas of their development. Our teachers have four-year degrees, associate degrees or child-development associate degrees. Staff members are required to attend training sessions annually. In this way they can stay informed about all the new research and techniques in early childhood education and exchange ideas with other area professionals. With an accumulated staff experience of over 114 years, we are able to combine our knowledge of childhood development, recognizing what is developmentally normal and what is not developmentally normal in the children who attend our center. Our teachers know what children should be able to do and learn at each stage of development. We encourage partents to seek us out for answers as we help them navigate the sometimes stormy seas of early childhood development. All staff members are required to be active members of Christian congregations. As such, they are called on and expected to practice the highest moral standards in their personal lives as is humanly possible.
Holy Cross Preschool & Kindergarten received word on December 1, 2014 that we had been awarded a 5 Star Rating in Ohio's Step Up to Quality Program. This is the highest rating a school can achieve and shows a high level of excellence. This rating would not have been possible without highly qualified and dedicated staff as every aspect of our program was evaluated by licensing specialists who were trained to recognize excellence.
All of our staff meet or exceed the state requirements for working in an early childhood center. Staff longevity is one of the most impressive things about Holy Cross. All of our staff is here because they enjoy working with children. This is a great place to work!
Two & Three Year Old Class
Mrs. Anne Hankins (left) is the teacher of the two & three-year-old class. She has an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Hudson Valley Community College in New York. This is Anne's ninth year teaching this class with 19 years total experience in education. She is the mother of two grown sons. Ms. Kelli Picot (right) is her teacher's aide. Kelli has a Bachelor's degree in Art Education from Malone University. She has a son who attends our school. This is Ms. Picot's sencond year on our staff.
Three & Four-Year-Old Class
Mrs. Janet Eagon (left) is the teacher of three & four-year-old class. This is Janet's sceond year on our staff. She has a degree in Early Childhood Education from Stark State University. Janet completed her student teaching here at Holy Cross under Mrs. Teri Hockman. Her aide is Mrs. Patty Wallace (right). Mrs. Wallace has been on our staff for eleven years. She is the mother of two children in the North Canton School System.
Four & Five-Year-Old Class (Combination Four & Pre-K Children)
Mrs. Teri Hockman (left) is the teacher of the four-year-old/pre-kindergarten class. She has an Associates degree in Early Childhood Education from Stark State and Elementary Education (K -3) from Walsh University with reading endorsement. This is Teri's eleventh year as teacher of our fours and fives and her thirteenth year on our staff. She is the mother of two grown children. Mrs. Tiffany Clay (right) is the teacher's aide for both the morning and the afternoon classes. This is Tiffany's seventh year on our staff. Tiffany has three children in the North Canton Schools.
Pre-Kindergarten Class (Old Fours & Young Fives)
Ms. Leslie Martin (left) is the teacher of the Pre-Kindergarten class. She has an Early Childhood Associate Degree. This is her third year teaching the Pre-Kindergarten Class and her fifth year on our staff having worked as a teacher's aide before getting her credentials to teach. Leslie's two sons attends North Canton Schools. Mrs. Cristina Davis (right) is the teacher's aide in the Pre-Kindergarten Class. This is her second year at Holy Cross, but she worked in a Lutheran School before moving to North Canton. Being so happy with what the Lutheran Schools have to offer, she sought us out as a school for her youngest daughter, and expressed a desire to work here. Her daughter is in our Kindergarten class.
Mrs. Angie Linskey (left) is the teacher of the Kindergarten Class. Mrs. Linsky has a Bachelor's Degree from Akron University. She has nine years of experience in education. This is her third year on our staff. Angie is the mother of three children attending Lake Schools.
Afternoon Care Givers
Our teaching staff is supported by numerous wonderful teacher's aides and childcare givers. Mrs. Molly Rinehart (left) has been on our staff for 15 years. Ms. Leslie Martin, Miss Lindsey Rapp, and Ms. Kelli Picot also provide care for our child care children in the afternoons. They are pictured above.
Marjorie James (left) is the Administrator. Marjorie got her Bachelor's degree from Kent State University. She did additional coursework in early childhood at Malone College. Marjorie came to Holy Cross when it opened 21 years ago with 11 years of teaching experience. That experience included grades 4, 5, & 6 in the North Canton City School District followed by two years at an area preschool. For the first four years Holy Cross was open, Marjorie taught the Pre-Kindergarten class while carrying out all of the administrative responsibilities for the school. As the school grew her responsibilities changed to that of full-time administrator. Marjorie is the mother of two grown children and grandmother of two. One of her grandsons attends Holy Cross Preschool. Mrs. Nikki Swiger (right) is the school secretary and assistant to the administrator. This is Nikki's fifth year on our staff. She has two sons.Tthe youngest still attends Plain Local School District.
